Performances of the ballet Onegin at the Mussorgsky Theatre.
Choreographed by Vasily Medvedev and first performed in Prague at the Czech National Theatre in 1999, this engaging new version of the Alexander Pushkin novel in verse, Eugene Onegin, received immediate critical and audience recognition as a fresh, new and original presentation of the story representing a milestone in classical dance. The ballet was subsequently presented in Spain, and most recently was produced in the United States at the Santa Fe Opera by the Pushkin Fund.
The presentations at the Mussorgsky Theatre will be the premier Russian productions of the ballet, and are therefore especially important. The performances in the Mussorgsky 2,000 seat theatre are sure to be sold out.
The ballet features four soloists with a corps de ballet of 28 dancers. The production is scored for an orchestra of 58 pieces. Conducting the performances will be Andrey Anikhanov.
These performances of the ballet Onegin are sure to be the artistic talk of the season for the international ballet world.

The 4th Annual Pushkin Golden Autumn Charitable Ball - This most elegant of the St. Petersburg Balls to be held in the Throne Room of Catherine Palace, with a capacity of 400 guests, will be the social event of the season. Reviving the glamorous tradition of gala evenings from the Pushkin epoch, a colorful mis of elite international guests will dine on the finest gourmet cuisine prepared by master chef Dominique Fercheau and catered in the highest style by the Grand Hotel Europe.
Classical opera and ballet performances by world renowned stars including Faroukh Ruzimatov will be followed by a stellar fireworks display and dancing into the evening to the 50 piece Petersburg orchestra, conducted by Maestro Peter Gribanov. Guests will have the opportunity to win exquisite and valuable prizes.
Proceeds of the Ball will directly benefit orphanages, Pushkin heritage projects and other charitable grantees of the Pushkin Fund.
