Since its founding in 1997,The Pushkin Fund has played an important role in Russian-American cultural relations. In April 1999, on the eve of the 200th anniversary of Pushkin's birth, Pushkin Legacy and Stanford University hosted the now famous International Pushkin Conference. Attended by over 300 Pushkin Scholars from around the world, it was the largest Pushkin conference ever held outside of Russia. The resulting scholarship and publications continue to have an effect on the study of Pushkin and his works.
