Another restaurant, Petersburg’s Stroganoff Steak House, joined the Chaine des Rotisseurs in April 2008. This restaurant more than meets the two main requirements for membership in the Chaine des Rotisseurs: that the menu include meat dishes prepared on a grill or spit, and that the executive chef or owner of the restaurant be a professional member of the Chaine. As for the first requirement, Stroganoff Steak House is popular among gourmets precisely thanks to its house dishes, which feature steak from Argentina, the United States, New Zealand and Australia.
But the restaurant’s signature dish is an extraordinary Angus steak aged on the bone 28 days. The restaurant also meets the Chaine’s second requirement. Leonid Garbar, the founder of Stroganoff Steak House, is one of the first members of the Chaine. An experienced restaurateur, Garbar admits that, although he respects the exquisiteness of haute cuisine, he still thinks the best meal around is a good steak.
